First Class Recap

PARENTED’s inaugural class (soft launch) was held in early December. Merri Guggisberg of MKG Parent Coach guided us through the course Parenting and Digital Wellbeing. In-person and virtual were evenly attended and given the timing near the holidays, I was pleasantly surprised with the turnout!

Speaking of turnout, thanks for the supporters who reposted, shared, followed, liked, attended the class and cheered us on. PARENTED could not have launched without you. For that, I am forever grateful for your support!

So many good tips (and struggles) were shared. We learned that the struggle is real, devices are addicting, gremlins come out when the device turns off and most importantly, that we are not alone.

Plus we got super helpful feedback on ways to improve.

Pro-tips:

  • Have your kids call for takeout…a great way to learn how to have a conversation!

  • Have no phone zones…e.g. bathroom, bedroom, meal times.

  • Talk about and establish family values…and give the kids agency in forming these with you.

Overall I was really pleased with our soft launch, especially with the holiday timing! And also appreciative of the chance to learn and work through the kinks.

Thanks to those friends and family that supported the launch and Merri for taking the plunge with me! And to Amma Parenting for hosting and promoting the soft launch!

Here’s a couple quotes and pics from the first course:

“My first course with PARENTED was informative and helped me to initiate big conversations with my partner about establishing family values that will have lasting impact on our kids.”

“The information Merri provided was insightful and eye opening! She was able to create an interactive environment without putting anyone on the spot. The way she delivered the information gave me a feeling of confidence and an understanding that I too could do this.”

A small group de-briefing after the session (when I remembered to grab a photo:) More people came than expected!

100% said they learned something new AND would take another class!
